Q: Tell us about your business and how long in business:
: I practice employment law, from the management (defense) side. Most of my clients are small to mid-size businesses, many without a formal HR department. So I do a lot of high end HR work as well as the legal end of things. I've been practicing law for 22 years.

Q: What inspired you to start your own business?
A: They say necessity is the mother of invention, and I'm proof. My last job at a larger firm disappeared with the economy in 2009. I was out on my own for over a year, then went in with my current firm as "of counsel" in 2010. In 2014 I transitioned to become a partner in the firm.

Q: Share an interesting or little known fact about you or your company:
A: Of the 8 partners in the firm, only 4 of us work "full time". This is very unusual for law offices.

Q: What is one piece of advice/words of business wisdom you would share with our members:
A: Happy employees don't sue you! :)

Q: How long have you been involved with NAWBO?
A: I was a self professed NAWBO "groupie" for years, since around 2001 or 2002. I was finally eligible for membership in 2009, and NAWBO was my first expense as a new business owner.

Q: What do you enjoy most or find most valuable about being a NAWBO member?
A: The network with smart women from so many business areas who are at the ready to help with advice when needed.

Q: What is one little known fact about you that others might find fun or interesting?
A: I've made six people cry during depositions, including an ex-Marine.
