Q: Tell us about your business and how long in business:
A: Solus is a live event lighting and production management company. We officially opened our doors on January 1, 2011. We provide lighting design, technical services, consultation services and production management for any live event. Such events have included; corporate and non-profit fundraisers, galas, corporate meetings, conferences and awards ceremonies, museum exhibit lighting installations, private social events, public events, rock shows and weddings.
Q: What inspired you to start your own business?
A: My business partner and myself had been in the live events industry in Cleveland for years. We felt that we could provide high level lighting and production services not only here in Cleveland, not only statewide or nationwide but internationally as well. To be a part of some of the best events locally and abroad was a great inspiration to us.
Q: Share an interesting or little known fact about you or your company.
A: The name ‘Solus’ is a nod to our celtic heritage. Solus in gaelic means knowledge, light giving, bright and clear
Q: What is one piece of advice/words of business wisdom you would share with our members:
A: Do what you do well. Do what you love and what you have passion for. Do not misrepresent yourself or your business. I guess that’s more than one, but it all ties together
Q: How long have you been involved with NAWBO?
A: I started going to events as a guest in 2014
Q: What do you enjoy most or find most valuable about being a NAWBO member?
A: I really like being involved in an organization where there are many different industries represented. I find it interesting to network with owners of a wide variety of businesses, and see where my business fits into their world.
Q: What is one little known fact about you that others might find fun or interesting?
A: I was born and raised in a small town outside of Pittsburgh, PA. It’s rough being a Pittsburgh fan living in the 216.
