Gitta's Table and Wine Shop
Q: Tell us about your business and how long in business:
A: Opened February 4th 2015, a small wine shop and sandwich/coffee shop combined. I also have corporate style catering plus wine inspired gifts and gift baskets. All soups and bakery is home made, as much is homemade as possible (sauces, dressings, etc.). We accomplish a lot with a limited kitchen!
Q: What inspired you to start your own business?
A: I have wanted my own restaurant for quite some time, and for a while also contemplated a wine shop. When the shop came up for sale I just threw caution to the wind and went for it! I was 48 at the time and thought to myself it is now or never since I knew it was going to entail some very hard and physical work. Now that I am 50 I am so glad that I did it!
Q: Share an interesting or little known fact about you or your company:
A: We call the shop the "House of Caddywhompus". The building has been in existence since 1915 as some kind of shop and as your typical 100 year old structure....nothing is straight!
Q: What is one piece of advice/words of business wisdom you would share with our members:
A: Find some good advisors! People have done this before and nothing beats experience. I am still looking for advice in different areas almost everyday. The best part of owning your own business is that you learn something everyday!
Q: How long have you been involved with NAWBO?
A: 1 month, 2 months?
Q: What do you enjoy most or find most valuable about being a NAWBO member?
A: As a new member I look forward to learning from all of the ladies that "have been there and done that" already! And I can see that it will be great networking to help grow my business.
Q: What is one little known fact about you that others might find fun or interesting?
A: I eat most of my meals at home with chopsticks, I just prefer them and absolutely love all Asian cuisines.
