President
Primary Responsibility: To guide all aspects of the organization; represent NAWBO to the local business community, the media, and NAWBO National; and oversee the activities of the Board of Directors.
Specific Duties: Board of Directors
• Host summer planning meeting (retreat) for incoming Board
• Chair monthly Board meetings
• Monitor Board activities
• Encourage Board involvement in the organization at the local and national levels
• Handle any disputes that may arise
• Represent the Cleveland Chapter at the National level
• Serve as chief liaison between the local chapter and the national office
• Attend national meetings when possible
• Participate in the Midwest Presidents monthly conference call Participate on the Corporate Partner Council

President Elect
Primary Responsibility: Oversee the administration of the NAWBO office and long-range planning for the chapter; prepare for the presidency.
Specific Duties:
Administration of Chapter Office
• Negotiate contract with administrative services provider.
• Oversee vendor's performance of administrative responsibilities.
• Develop long-range future plans for NAWBO as needed.
• Direct volunteers in completing their assignment. Support to President
• Provide support to President as needed.
• Serve as acting President in President's absence.

Immediate Past President
Primary Responsibility: To provide counsel for the President and Board and continuity for members and Corporate Partners
Specific Duties:
Guidance to Board and President
• Provide guidance on Board and chapter matters to the current President as needed. Corporate Partner Council
• Chair the Corporate Partner Council, which is made up of the three most recent Past Presidents, the current President, President-Elect, and VP of Finance, Treasurer, and any local members of the national Board of Directors. Coordinates official communications and relations with local Corporate Partners. Nominating Committee
• Chair the Nominating Committee, which is made up of the three most recent Past Presidents, and four other members voted on by the membership at the January meeting.
• Present new slate of officers at March Board of Directors meeting for approval.
• Distribute approved slate to membership via newsletter, website, e-mail and/or fax in March.
• Coordinate members-only balloting at the Annual Business Meeting (including
any proxy votes). Bylaws Committee
• Chair the Bylaws Committee, which is made up of any interested parties in the membership.
• Update Bylaws as needed; present recommendations to the Board of Directors for approval; and present to membership for voting.
• Install incoming Board of Directors at the end of term (as the outgoing IPP) as the June meeting.

Vice President - Communications
Primary Responsibility: To provide current information to NAWBO Cleveland members on a regular basis via print and electronic communications channels.
Specific Duties: Newsletter
• Oversee development and distribution of chapter's newsletter to provide a link between NAWBO National and NAWBO Cleveland and enable members to share information, including such content as:
—Announcements of monthly meetings and topics
—Introduction of new members
—Topics of interest to the general membership
—Information on local Corporate Partners
—News about NAWBO Cleveland members
—A current calendar of scheduled events
• Oversee services provided by external newsletter production team. Website
• Oversee development and ongoing maintenance of NAWBO Cleveland web site (www.nawbocleveland.org) to provide timely information to current and prospective members and others
• Work closely with the NAWBO Cleveland office to maintain updated schedule of events, activities, and other content
• Evaluate and revise the format on an ongoing basis for ease of use and maintenance of the site.
• Oversee services of external newsletter vendor.

Vice President - Education
Primary Responsibility: Deliver high quality programming to NAWBO members to enable them to interact with each other and learn how to run their businesses more effectively.
Specific Duties: Program Development
• Coordinate programming for monthly meetings held in Cleveland and Akron and other events such as workshops, seminars, and social gatherings:
—Networking events that include other women's professional associations
—Meetings featuring speakers whose knowledge and expertise will benefit members' businesses
—Off-site social events (summer soirees and Holiday Party)
—Joint social events with other associations
• Make speaker arrangements (A/V needs, meals, etc.)
• Provide information on programs to VP Communications for dissemination via web site and newsletters.

Vice President - Finance
Primary Responsibility: Manage the organization's investments, assist with development opportunities, prepare financial statements and budget, and handle accounts receivables and payables.
Specific Duties:
• Establish annual chapter budget with other VPs, President, and accountant.
• Establish and monitor banking relationships for chapter (signature cards, check ordering, online access).
• Manage and keep listing of investments and maturity dates. Make recommendations for re-investment.
• Pay invoices and maintain payment log. Forward to bookkeeper/accountant.
• Pay new/renewal membership fees to national NAWBO (for members paying by check). Send letter listing name, company, and amount paid. Forward copies to accountant.
• Deposit checks and maintain payment log. Forward information to bookkeeper/accountant.
• Review financial data with accountant on an ongoing basis.
• Participate on corporate partner council.
• Oversee Bookkeeper/Accountant's performance of the following functions:
—Maintain Chart of accounts
—Produce financial statements
—Process invoices
—Reconcile bank statement
—Record general journal entries
—File Cuyahoga County sales tax return
—File 990 tax return
• Oversee Administrator's performance of the following functions:
—Process credit card charges
—Forward invoices to VP Finance
—Collect money at event registration

Vice President - Marketing
Primary Responsibility: To promote NAWBO Cleveland through promotional campaigns and media relations.
Specific Duties:
Marketing NAWBO Cleveland
• Produce marketing materials to promote NAWBO Cleveland membership and events.
• Distribute materials in coordination with VP of Member Services and VP Education.
• Develop a consistent look for all NAWBO Cleveland printed communications. Media Relations
• Write and distribute NAWBO Cleveland press releases.
• Contact the media to encourage positive press coverage of NAWBO Cleveland events.
• Seek out media interview opportunities for NAWBO Cleveland representatives. Trade Shows
• Oversee NAWBO Cleveland's participation as an exhibitor at regional business trade shows.
• Secure speaking opportunities for NAWBO Cleveland representatives at area business events.

Vice President - Member Services
Primary Responsibility: Recruit new members and increase member retention.
Specific Duties:
• Membership Recruitment and Retention
• Oversee membership committee.
• Follow up with guests who have recently attended chapter meetings.
• Contact people who have received prospective member packets..
• Communicate with existing members to remind them of upcoming renewals and poll them on their thoughts about membership
• Contact lapsed members to understand reasons for non-renewal and encourage reinstatement.
• Oversee member surveys.
• Develop member services in Southern Tri-County area New Member Orientation
• Contact new members to welcome them and answer questions.
• Conduct periodic new member orientation meetings.

• Oversee nomination and presentation of chapter awards for achievement and effort, including Corporate Partner of the Year and Volunteer of the Year
• Advise members of other award opportunities within and outside NAWBO at the
local and national level.

Vice President - Public Policy
Primary Responsibility: Educate and encourage members to be proactively involved in advancing NAWBO's public policy and legislative agenda.
Specific Duties:
• Represent chapter at NAWBO Public Policy Days in Washington annually and as NAWBO Cleveland's member of the Public Policy Council.
• Provide local leadership for legislative priorities.
• Educate NAWBO Cleveland members about NAWBO National's public policy priorities.
